The Legal 500 UK guide for 2027 has been published, and Ansons Law is ranked in five practice areas across the West Midlands. Seven of our lawyers are individually ranked.

The Legal 500 is one of the two leading independent guides to UK law firms. Firms cannot pay to be ranked. Researchers review each firm's work and speak directly to its clients, and the rankings reflect what those clients say.

Key takeaways

  • Ansons Law is ranked Tier 2 for corporate and commercial and Tier 2 for commercial property in the West Midlands.
  • We are also ranked for commercial litigation, agriculture and estates, and employment.
  • Seven Ansons lawyers are individually ranked as Leading Partners, Next Generation Partners or Leading Associates.
  • Lawyers from our Lichfield, Cannock, Sutton Coldfield and Dudley offices are named in the guide.

Where is Ansons Law ranked?

Who is individually ranked?

The Legal 500 ranks individual lawyers as well as teams. Seven of our lawyers are recognised this year:

Leading Partners are those the guide regards as the strongest in their field. Next Generation Partners are partners with significant recognition from clients and peers. Leading Associates are lawyers with regular involvement in their team's key work who are recognised as ones to watch.

What does the guide say about our corporate team?

Our corporate and commercial team is jointly led by Neil Jones, based in Sutton Coldfield, and Jamie Gill, based in Cannock. Paul Bennett, a senior consultant in our Dudley office, adds further depth.

The guide recognises the team for complex acquisitions and disposals, management buyouts and refinancing, shareholder agreements and commercial contracts. Our clients include businesses in healthcare, manufacturing and education.

What about commercial property?

Our commercial property team is co-led by Richard Saum and Neil Faunch. The team advises developers, investors, lenders and landowners on development sites, investments, leasing and secured lending.

The guide notes the team's particular specialism in agricultural land, and its experience in strategic land deals, compulsory purchase, agricultural tenancies and renewable energy projects.

What about disputes and employment?

Our dispute resolution team is led by Martin De Ridder, Jason Alcock and Ian Meadows. The guide recognises the team for shareholder and partnership disputes, insolvency, construction disputes, property and land disputes and contentious probate.

Our employment team, jointly led by Jason Alcock and Martin De Ridder, acts for employers and employees on redundancies, discrimination claims and employment tribunal proceedings. The team works closely with our corporate and commercial property teams on transactions.

And agriculture and estates?

Led by Neil Faunch, our agriculture and estates team advises farmers, landowners and rural businesses on development land, including option, promotion and overage agreements. The team also handles farm sales and purchases, diversification and renewable energy schemes such as solar and battery storage.

What does the ranking mean for clients?

Martin De Ridder, Managing Director, said:

"The Legal 500 is independent. Firms cannot buy a ranking. The researchers speak to clients, and the rankings reflect what those clients say about us."

"Thank you to every client who took the time to give feedback. And thank you to our team across Lichfield, Cannock, Sutton Coldfield and Dudley, because the rankings are the result of their work."
