Three matters handled by Joanne Vernon, our Head of Family Law, described without anything that could identify the people involved:

• A prenuptial agreement before a second marriage. A client who owned property and assets from his first marriage wanted to protect that wealth for his children before marrying again. Joanne advised him and drafted the agreement, through to its signing.
• Relocating with children. A mother wanted to move with her children and their father would not consent. Joanne advised her on what the court looks for, applied to the court for permission to relocate and represented her through to the final hearing.
• A financial settlement after a long marriage. Joanne acted for a wife who had been the children's main carer and had not been in paid work for most of the marriage. Her husband, a business owner, wanted a clean break. The dispute was over the division of capital and spousal maintenance: Joanne advised on both and instructed experts on the business.

• Enforcing a financial order. The other party had deliberately not kept to the terms of a financial remedy order. Maisie secured an order enforcing it, together with a costs award in her client's favour to cover the costs of the application.
• Urgent protection. Maisie acts for clients applying for, and responding to, non-molestation and occupation orders, and has acted swiftly to secure urgent non-molestation orders for vulnerable clients, protecting them and their children.
