Ansons Law has appointed Philip Round as Director and Head of Banking and Structured Finance. He joins the firm on Monday 2 November 2026 to lead its financial services, transactional and secured lending work.

Philip joins from George Green LLP, where he spent many years as a partner and led the banking and structured finance team. He has built his career in the Black Country and the wider Midlands.

Martin De Ridder, Managing Director of Ansons Law, said:

"Philip is one of the most respected corporate and structured finance lawyers in the region, and clients trust him.

"His arrival strengthens the banking and finance work we already do for business clients and their lenders.

"Philip's appointment is a key strand in Ansons Law's long-term growth plans. He knows the Black Country business community well, and with our Dudley office now established, he is a natural fit for where Ansons is going."

Philip's appointment follows that of Johnathan Dudley in October. Johnathan, who spent 38 years at Crowe LLP, is the firm's strategic consultant advising on its growth plans.

Philip Round said:

"I'm delighted to be joining Ansons at this exciting moment in its ongoing story of growth.

"Ansons has grown phenomenally across the Midlands, and the success of the Dudley office shows what can be achieved with a genuine commitment to the Black Country in the form of a physical office populated by real-life lawyers eager to speak face to face with clients.

"This is where I have built my career and some of my strongest client relationships, and I'm excited to be part of a firm that is investing in the region and its businesses."

Philip advises lenders, large corporates, financial service providers and entrepreneurs on structured finance, secured lending and corporate transactions, including leveraged deals and group reorganisations.

Chambers and Partners ranks Philip in Band 2 for Corporate/M&A (SME and owner-managed businesses) in the West Midlands, and he is recommended by the Legal 500. One client told the Legal 500 that he "always takes the time to understand and address my concerns". One Chambers client describes him as "very diligent with an amazing eye for detail".

Philip will work with clients across the firm's offices in Lichfield, Cannock, Sutton Coldfield and Dudley. To speak to Philip about structured finance, secured lending or a corporate transaction, contact the corporate and commercial team.
