This year, Dementia Awareness Week has changed to Dementia Action Week and takes place from 21 to 27 May.
We are joining The Alzheimer’s Society in encouraging everyone to unite and make a change by taking action against dementia (no matter how small). Together we can make a huge difference.
In the UK, someone develops dementia every three minutes. There is currently no cure for the disease, so we need to be determined to create a dementia-friendly community that supports people with dementia and their families to live their lives as they would like to.
There are many ways we can all take action against dementia in our personal and professional lives. Building a dementia friendly community will involve all kinds of organisations from hospitals, shops, transport providers, schools, banks and professional service providers taking steps to promote a positive change.
At Ansons Solicitors in Cannock and Lichfield, Staffordshire, we are doing our part to take action against dementia by encouraging as many people as possible to take the important step of planning for the future, by making a will and a lasting power of attorney.
We have ensured that our staff have a high level of awareness on mental capacity issues and can advise what you can do if you are concerned about diminishing or lost mental capacity.
Our expert team of lawyers can also provide advice on taking action to safeguard a loved one with the Court of Protection or appointing a deputy.
