Ian qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and joined Ansons in January 2025.
Ian advises both individuals and companies in contentious property matters in the High Court, the county courts, the First Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber), the Upper Tribunal (Lands), and the appellate courts, as well as in mediation.
He advises on the full spectrum of both commercial and residential landlord and tenant matters, including 1954 Act renewals, service charge disputes, consents, assignments, breaches of covenant, forfeiture, break notices, dilapidations and possession actions. Additionally, he advises on boundary disputes, adverse possession, boundary disputes, adverse possession, overage disputes, development agreement and joint venture disputes; easement and restrictive covenant disputes, and actions against trespassers.
Ian also advises on definitive map modification applications/orders pursuant to Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981/Section 31(1) Highways Act 1980 and Town and Village Green applications pursuant to Section 15 of the Commons Act 2006.
Additionally, Ian advises on a range of contentious commercial matters including director and shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, intellectual property rights, debt recovery and corporate insolvency.
Ian prides himself on his pragmatic and determined approach to his client’ cases in order to seek a swift and cost effective resolution for them. He often has clients referred to him by other professionals, including other solicitors, accountants, and surveyors.
Ian is married with two children. In addition to spending time with his family, he is a keen rugby fan and likes anything which gets him outdoors including walking, gardening and paddleboarding. He is also (still) trying to master the Ukulele…..
