A top property lawyer from Ansons Solicitors has been inspiring local students to plan their career path to become the next generation of Staffordshire lawyers.
Julie Tomasik, director and head of residential conveyancing at Ansons Solicitors in Staffordshire, was invited to The Rawlett School in Tamworth to talk about the world of work and her personal career journey at their recent Careers Day event for Year 8 pupils.
Speaking to the children about what her job involves, the steps she had to take to qualify and how she has progressed in her career, Julie emphasised the importance of key skills in English and maths in her work.
Julie said, “Although many children might find grammar boring, I was keen to explain its importance, as a major part of my role is communication, both spoken and written. I also explained the importance of personal presentation and making a good first impression.”
The day was received very well by the students, with one pupil commenting, “We heard about lots of different careers and found out how to get into jobs. It taught me how jobs worked and opened up options.” Another pupil said, “I learnt a lot about the world of work that I did not know before. The careers day has helped me a lot.”
Gaye Jones, careers manager at The Rawlett School, commented, “Many thanks to Julie for her involvement in our Year 8 careers. We are always so grateful to external individuals using their time to inspire our students.”
