HS2 – Legal Advice and Compensation

If you own land on or close to the proposed route of HS2, then you will be concerned about the impact on your ability to use or enjoy your home or place of work and the effect on the value of your property.

Within the legislation for HS2 are a number of measures to provide compensation for home-owners and businesses along the route.

Specifically, there is a “safeguarded area” which usually runs approximately 60 metres either side of the track. However, it is important to refer to the detailed maps to be certain of the provisions in your local area.

The options and compensation packages available vary according to proximity to the track and the size of a business.

The regulatory team at Ansons Solicitors is highly experienced in infrastructure projects, planning and compulsory purchase issues. It is not so long ago that the M6Toll made its way through Staffordshire too.

We can advise home-owners and business landowners on:

  • your eligibility for compensation, and the most appropriate scheme for your circumstances
  • how and when to make a formal objection
  • making claims of blight
  • presenting your case before any committee hearings
  • making a case to maximise the compensation received.
