Birmingham Hospital Saturday Fund (BHSF), the Midlands-based health insurance and employee benefits provider, has appointed Hilary D’Cruz, partner and head of corporate law at Ansons Solicitors, as a non-executive director.
BHSF was founded in 1873 by Joseph Sampson Gamgee to support local hospitals, and has since grown into a major ‘not for profit’ health insurer. Its clients include Birmingham City Council, Argos, Sainsbury’s and General Motors. Many of their policies help customers with everyday health costs, which are not free or easily available on the NHS.
Hilary joins BHSF with a highly respected legal background on her shoulders. She is a partner and head of corporate law at Ansons Solicitors, which has offices in Lichfield and Cannock in Staffordshire. Her specialist practice areas cover everything from corporate acquisitions and sales, corporate reorganisations, banking and financial agreements, and joint ventures and commercial contracts.
Group chief executive, Peter Maskell said: “BHSF is becoming more complex and our successful acquisition strategy has changed the way we do business. We welcome Hilary to the board and look forward to her bringing her broad business experience and her expertise in corporate law to our increasingly-complex decision making.”
