Leading Midlands law firm Ansons Solicitors has been accepted as a member of Ars Legis International, a European network of lawyers, tax advisers and patent attorneys. Headquartered in Germany, the network boasts over 40 members, covering 18 European jurisdictions.
This important development forms part of the firm’s strategy to increase instruction from foreign-owned clients, whilst better serving the needs of clients in England that are active within these European jurisdictions, or importantly, have plans to expand their interests across the channel.
Andrew Johnson, Managing Director at Ansons commented: “Although there was a reduction in corporate activity between the UK and Europe following Brexit, the situation has stabilised and there is now renewed ambition to increase cross-channel trade.
“An increasing number of our clients have an international aspect to their businesses and they expect their trusted advisers to be conversant with the laws in the jurisdictions in which they trade – or hope to trade.
“We have more foreign-owned clients who need to consider their activities across Europe. New projects and jobs attributed to Foreign Direct Investment into the UK in 2020-21 saw the Midlands second only to London, so the opportunities in the regions for Ansons are obvious.
“Our membership of Ars Legis International allows us to meet our clients’ needs in our usual practical, efficient manner, irrespective of where they do business. The network comprises firms with a similar commercial focus to Ansons, which ensures our clients will continue to benefit from the high level of service they have come to expect.
“The ability to access high-quality overseas legal advice through Ars Legis will not only prove attractive to our existing clients, but also for businesses across the Midlands and beyond that already trade in Europe or have ambitions to do so.”
Dr Pierre-Roger Preussler, Chairman of Ars Legis International commented: “Ansons are a welcome addition to Ars Legis International. The firm has clients with an increasingly European aspect to their business activities and a need of high-quality advice and representation in multiple jurisdictions.
“It is gratifying that firms with the reputation of Ansons see the value in Ars Legis and what it can bring to their clients. We look forward to working together.”
