The Corporate Team here at Ansons are toasting to another successful deal, having recently advised on the management buyout (MBO) of Wells Plastics Limited, led by the company’s Executive Directors, Carl Birch and Stuart Law and supported by Virgin Money/Clydesdale Bank.
Wells Plastics Limited is the largest independent specialist additive masterbatch manufacturer in the UK, providing a wide range of products and services to the plastics processing industry, nationally and internationally, from its base in Stone, Staffordshire.
Jamie Gill, Director at Ansons Solicitors and a member of the firm’s corporate team who led the legal side of the transaction, commented: “This is the second MBO Wells has undertaken in recent history and it was gratifying to help the management team achieve this latest one which involved buying out the previous investors.
“No one knows the strength of a business like those who have spent their careers helping build it into the highly successful entity it is today. Recognising the continued success of Wells at home and abroad was clearly the driving force behind this deal and sets the business up for further growth.
“The MBO of a business such as Wells Plastics, involves a lot of moving parts and there is always the potential for legal matters and curve balls to delay things.
“When advising a client through an MBO, it’s important to ensure they receive the high-quality legal advice they need to feel confident with the deal, whilst removing as much stress from the process as possible, to ensure those involved can remain focused on business as usual.”
Stuart Law, Finance and Operations Director at Wells, added: “The Corporate team at Ansons, led by Jamie Gill, worked hard to get the deal through to completion and dealt impressively with the many obstacles and curve balls thrown their way.
“The team here at Wells Plastics found Jamie and his team to be extremely approachable, pragmatic and accessible throughout and ultimately delivered a great next step in the history of Wells Plastics.”
