Rugeley Rugby Club’s annual 7s tournament will take place on 8th June 2013 at St Augustine’s Field in Rugeley. Cannock law firm Ansons will be the title sponsor for the second year running, naming the tournament “The Ansons LLP 7s”.   

The annual competition is now in its fourth year and will see teams from rugby clubs across Staffordshire competing including entrants from Burntwood, Wheaton Ashton, Eccleshall, Barton under Needwood, Whittington and Stafford.

Cannock Rugby Club is the defending champion and will be looking to ensure the team can retain the trophy for a third year in a row. The success of the Rugeley tournament has led to the creation of the Staffordshire 7s series, with events being held across the county in Cannock, Wednesbury and Trentham.

Rugeley Rugby Club Chairman Carl Johnson said, “I am delighted with Ansons Solicitors’ continued support for our club. It is great when a local business is prepared to get behind a community-based rugby club such as ours. We used the money raised at last year’s event to finish off the refurbishment of our club house. I would like to invite local sports fans who fancy watching some top quality rugby to come down and watch on the day. Entrance is free and refreshments will be available to make it a fun day out for all”.
