Corporate Social Responsibility

At Ansons we consider our social responsibility to the community as a vital part of who we are. The firm recognises the importance of its interaction with the local community and we undertake many fundraising events as part of our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

Each year, our Corporate Social Responsibility committee consisting of employees at all levels throughout the organisation meet to discuss our aims for the following year. The committee considers how Ansons can add benefit to its people, the environment and its local community.

Fundraising

The firm actively supports a number of charities such as:

• The Staffordshire Blood Bikes;
• St Giles Hospice;
• Macmillan Cancer Support;
• Midlands Air Ambulance;
• The Trussel Trust Food Bank; and
• Lichfield Food Bank.

One of our Directors is an Ambassador for Acorns Children’s Hospice and our committee work hard to endeavour to raise as much as possible for all of these worthwhile causes.

Ansons also supports clients and business partners with their own charitable initiatives.

Sponsorship

We are keen to support and give back to the local community through local clubs and organisations. Ansons sponsors both Sutton Coldfield Rugby Club and Rugeley Rugby Club and regularly attends games and functions held by the clubs.

Community

Ansons also actively takes part in events to support other organisations such as:

• Hednesford Town Football Club;
• Lichfield Rotary Club;
• Cannock Rotary Club; and
• Cannock Town Centre Partnership T/A Our Cannock.

Several of our trainees are involved in University Mentoring schemes at local Universities. This enables them to help nurture upcoming trainee solicitors. We also have links with high performing state and private schools locally to give these students careers advice and to try to engage with potential future applicants at an early stage.

Environmental

Ansons is mindful of its impact on the environment and is committed to being more environmentally friendly where possible. Ansons has recycling facilities throughout each of its offices and optimises its IT systems to reduce the amount of paper wasted.

We endeavour to recycle old IT equipment once the data has been secured and destroyed where possible and hope to progress this over the years.

Anti Slavery and Human Trafficking

Ansons Solicitors has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.

We are also committed to ensuring there is transparency in our own business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery throughout our supply chains, consistent with our disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and any other relevant legislation which is in force from time to time. We expect the same high standards from all of our contractors, suppliers and other business partners and, as part of our contracting processes, we include specific prohibitions against the use of forced, compulsory or trafficked labour, or anyone held in slavery or servitude, whether adults or children, and we expect that our suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.

We have a full Anti-Modern Slavery Policy and Procedure in force and which is available upon written request to a Director of Ansons Solicitors.
